The differences between IXPE and EPE

IXPE foam, also known as irradiated cross-linked polyethylene foam, uses polyethylene as the main raw material. Through irradiation processing technology, the original structure of the base material is changed to form a network-like independent closed-cell foam structure.

EPE (Expandable Polyethylene) is expandable polyethylene. It is a non-crosslinked closed cell structure. Produced by extruding low-density polyethylene (LDPE) as the main raw material.

The main difference:

1. EPE is not cross-linked, and its physical properties (tensile strength, compressive strength, etc.) are not as good as IXPE;

2. Aging resistance: IXPE is irradiated and cross-linked, which greatly improves its aging resistance, which is better than EPE in this respect;

3.IXPE foam cells are more delicate and dense, waterproof and dustproof are better than EPE;

4. There is also a big difference in appearance, the surface of EPE is rough, and the surface of IXPE is flat and smooth.
